About Stodgy Brewing Company

Stodgy Brewing Company is a neighborhood brewery and taproom on Laporte Avenue in northwest Fort Collins. It lives in the old Friendly Fire building, a stove and fireplace store from 1974 to 2007. The website says the name means simple and unpretentious, and also heavy and filling.

A brewer and a landscaper founded Stodgy, and they reused as much of the building as they could. The old wood floors became the ceiling, soapstone stove parts became a tile floor, and the bar is black walnut grown on the property.

The website says Stodgy's beer is made with Colorado malts, and most of it with Colorado hops from the Billy Goat Hop Company. The list runs from Premium Lager and Gose to Colorado Pale Ale and a Hazy IPA. The website says its Scottish Ale won GABF silver in 2024.

Food trucks rotate through on a posted schedule. Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome inside and out, and the patio is spacious. Mondays bring an open bluegrass jam, and Saturdays bring mahjong in the private room.
