New English Brewing is an independent, family-owned brewery in the Sorrento Valley area of San Diego. Founder Simon Lacey, originally from England, started it in 2007. Its website says it has won nearly 50 medals at competitions including the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup.

New English brews a wide range of styles, from IPAs and stouts to lagers, fruit beers, Belgian ales and sours, plus hard seltzers and a non-alcoholic beer. Its website says Pure & Simple IPA won gold at the San Diego International Beer Competition, and Brewers Special Brown Ale took bronze at the 2016 World Beer Cup.

The brewery runs two tasting rooms, the Barrel Room and the Pub, plus a patio and lawn with plenty of outdoor seating. The Pub side has TVs for sports and a games room with darts. It is a family-friendly and dog-friendly spot, and kids are welcome.

Food trucks are not allowed on site, but you can order delivery from a nearby pizza spot or taco stand, or bring your own food. New English requires booking ahead for private parties or any group of 10 or more, through its website.
