Powerhouse Restaurant & Brewery is a brewpub on East Main Avenue in Puyallup. It is set in a brick building constructed in 1907 as a power substation. Its website says the place has served food and beer here since 1995.
The substation once powered the Interurban Electric Trolley between Seattle and Olympia. Brothers Dan and Jonathan Tweten, long-time patrons and home brewers, bought the Powerhouse in 2013. Its website calls it a locally owned place for people of all ages.
The beer is brewed in-house, and the tap list changes regularly. If you cannot decide, ask for a sample. The brewery also supplies over 14 restaurants in Tacoma, Olympia and Seattle, according to its website.
