About Coal Country Brewing
Coal Country Brewing is a family owned and family operated microbrewery on Benjamin Franklin Highway in Ebensburg. Its website says founder and brew master Mike Kutchman turned a weekend hobby into a profession. The handmade bar contains real Central Pennsylvania coal.
The tap list is long. The website lists a honey kolsch called Rusted Rail, an oatmeal stout called Coal Dust and a German altbier called Pick and Shovel, plus IPAs, sours and seasonal pours. It also lists cocktails on tap made with Cocho's Moonshine products, and sodas made in house.
Brewing happens on site, and the website says customers can watch the process while they enjoy the finished beer. The taproom has miner equipment and photographs on display, and there is an outdoor area. The kitchen is full service, and the website says the beef, honey and maple products come from local sources.
The brewery moved into a bigger building off Route 422, and the website says the atmosphere stayed the same. Coal Country Brewing is one of the most reviewed beer spots in Ebensburg on this site.
