About Blackbird Brewery
Blackbird Brewery is a family-owned and brewer-owned brewery in Wake Forest. Its website says owners Ian and Harmony VanGundy built it in 2022 after decades in brewing, sales and distribution.
The brewhouse is a custom 7 barrel system with an automated mash mixer and decoction capability. The website says that allows authentic European styles, expressive IPAs, tart fruit beers, stouts and barleywines. The taps use Czech-style side-pull faucets.
The taproom is spacious, and the patio and beer garden are described as expansive. Leashed dogs are allowed on the patio, and children are welcome in the taproom and on the patio. The bar also pours prosecco and cider on draft, wine by the glass and non-alcoholic drinks.
The events page lists live music and Hammered Trivia. Blackbird does not fill growlers, but it sells cans and kegs.
