About Shortway Brewing Company
Shortway Brewing Company is a veteran-family owned taproom and brewery in downtown Newport. It was established in 2017 as a community gathering place that feels like the neighborhood backyard.
The house style is American ales, brewed on site in the taproom and at the brewery's production facility in Trenton. The beers use locally sourced ingredients and pour on tap in Newport and in cans across Eastern North Carolina. Lookout Blonde, Chatham St. Wheat, Down East IPA and Fire Tower Red are among the canned beers.
The taproom and beer garden are kid, dog and outside food friendly. NC made snacks are on hand, and food trucks park on site several nights a week. The entrance and the parking lot are both wheelchair accessible.
Weekly events include a run club and a Sunday morning Bread & Barley. Monthly gatherings include a book club, a chess club and a homebrew club.
