Urban Orchard is a cidery and taproom on Buxton Avenue, on the South Slope in Asheville. Its website says Food & Wine Magazine named it the number one best place to drink cider in America in 2017. Josie Mielke founded the company and opened it in the fall of 2013.
The taproom has 20 taps, with four flagship ciders and a rotating small batch list. The ciders run from bone dry to semi-sweet. The website suggests a flight if it is your first visit.
The ciders are made from apples grown in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Production moved to the South Slope in October 2019, so the ciders are made on site. The taproom also carries wine and local beer.
