About Uwharrie Brewing
Uwharrie Brewing is a brewery in the Historic Station 1 Firehouse on North 3rd Street in Albemarle. The brewery says it is Albemarle's first brewery. Owner and head brewer Colton Baker opened it in 2021, when the City of Albemarle entrusted him with the firehouse through an incentive agreement.
The draught list runs wide. It covers a light lager, a blonde ale, a Mexican style lager, a German pilsner and a hefeweizen. There are also fruited gose, a pale ale, a hazy IPA, a West Coast IPA, a red ale, a brown ale and a milk stout, and a barrel aged imperial stout and a house made non-alcoholic root beer round it out.
Cider and wine are on the menu too. That includes ciders from Red Clay Ciderworks and a mix of red and white wines, plus frozen drinks. The beers are brewed with the City of Albemarle's fresh water.
Colton Baker has more than a decade in brewing, including time as head brewer and production manager at a brewery in Waynesville. He started as a homebrewer and beertender in college.
