Grimm Artisanal Ales is a brewery with a taproom, a rooftop terrace and a pizzeria, all at one address on Metropolitan Avenue in Brooklyn. Its website says it has been named New York State Brewery of the Year several times. Grimm opened its own brick-and-mortar space in 2018 after years as a nomadic brewery.
The beer ranges from hazy IPAs to sour and spontaneous ales, lagers, stouts and hefeweizens. Its website describes an American spontaneous ale fermented by local ambient microorganisms and ripened in former wine barrels. The taproom is airy and plant-filled.
Lala's Apizza is upstairs beside the rooftop terrace. It serves charred New Haven style pizza with a thin crust made from house-milled malted wheat, baked in a wood-fired oven. The terrace bar also pours Physica natural wines and a short cocktail list.
Wednesdays bring Grimm Run Club and Bring Your Own Vinyl night. Live music comes on the first Thursday of each month, and DJ night is on Fridays.
