Lua Brewing is a brewpub on High Street in Des Moines' Sherman Hill neighborhood. It opened in November 2019. Its website says it was voted USA Today's number one brewpub in the United States in 2025.
The beer leans German and hazy. The drink menu lists a flagship German pilsner, a flagship Bavarian hefeweizen and a flagship hazy IPA, plus big stouts. The lagers get a slow side-pull pour that takes seven to eight minutes.
The kitchen makes smash burgers and a long menu of shareable plates. Vegan and gluten-free menus are available on request. Brunch runs on Saturdays and Sundays, and the patio is spacious and dog-friendly.
Larger groups can rent the Harvest Table, which seats up to 16. It is one of the most reviewed brewpubs in Des Moines on this site.
