About Torrent Brewing Company
Torrent Brewing Company is a brewery on Burnett Avenue in Ames. It was founded by home brewer Andy McCormick, a longtime Ames resident. The very first batch was brewed on the stove top in his kitchen.
The beers are handcrafted at the brewery, and you order at the bar. That gives you and the staff a chance to talk through the taps and find something you like. The taproom also pours hard cider, house made soda and root beer.
The taproom holds 157 people. A barrel room seats around 12 adults for a small private group. Kids and anyone under 21 are welcome with a parent or legal guardian.
Torrent does not run a kitchen, so food comes from food trucks parked outside or from takeout you bring in. Growlers can be filled to take home. It is one of the most reviewed beer spots in Ames on this site.
