About Millstream Brewing Co.
Millstream Brewing Co. is a brewery and taproom in Amana. It opened in 1985 with a small batch of German Pilsner. The brewery says it is Iowa's original craft brewery.
The taproom pours 20 rotating beers, and new releases arrive each week. The beer list includes Schild Brau Amber, Farmer's Tan and a Märzen-style Oktoberfest. Millstream also makes its own sodas, such as root beer, black cherry and ginger beer.
Seating includes a patio, a beer garden and deck seating beside the Amana millstream. Live music plays often, and it is always free. Food trucks roll in for some events.
The brewery runs tours and has a gift shop. It also feeds its spent grain to local cows.
