About Caledonia Brewing
Caledonia Brewing is a small batch brewery in downtown Dunedin. Its website says it opened in 2017, in the historic 1924 Dunedin Times building. The name is a nod to the town's Scottish heritage, since Caledonia is what the Romans called Scotland.
The website says the brewery focuses on natural and organic ingredients. It is known for Rat Arsed Scotch Ale and its little brother, Half Arsed Scottish Ale. Local guest taps show up from time to time.
Not every pour is beer. The taproom also serves wine, hard seltzers, sangria and cider, plus non-alcoholic beer and wine, kombucha and flavored waters. The website lists THC drinks too.
The taproom is a large open space with community tables. Outside, there is a covered, pet-friendly patio with seating and a bike rack. Music trivia runs every Thursday.
