About Gyppo Ale Mill

Gyppo Ale Mill is a brewery, beer garden and restaurant on the Lost Coast in Whitethorn. The brewery says it is California's most remote brewery. Julie Peacock and Josh Monschke own it, and it is woman-owned and operated.

The name is pronounced "jippo" and comes from a term for small-scale loggers. The core beers are Mexican Lager, Dave's Pilsner, Beach Blonde, Chasing Rainbows, Daydream Believer and Whistle Punk. They are brewed with traditional lager techniques and local ingredients from French Ranch Farms and Admiral Malting.

The taproom has garage doors that open to the ocean breeze, couches, foosball, ping-pong and cornhole. The beer garden has fire pits, a stage and a lawn where kids play. The kitchen cooks from scratch with local seafood.

Live music plays every week, and brewery tours are offered. Private events can host up to 300 guests.
