Tenma Beer Project is a small brewery on San Pablo Avenue in Oakland's Golden Gate and Paradise Park districts. It opened in 2023 and focuses on true-to-style lagers and modern hoppy beers. The website lists a 2023 GABF bronze medal for German pilsner.
The lagers get serious care. Several are decocted, like Carrying the Sun, a Czech-style 12° pilsner, and Starlit Horizon, a triple decocted 10° pale lager. The hoppy side runs to West Coast IPAs like Imminent Mortality and Universal Consciousness, plus hazy IPAs.
Brennan, Dana and Debbie run the project and rotate small batches to keep things fresh. Food works on a bring-your-own basis, from a local spot or by delivery.
Seating is indoors only. Well behaved dogs and guests under 21 are welcome. The taproom hosts game nights like trivia, plus gravity casks and Sketch & Sip days.
